The Benefits of CBD (Cannabidoil) Oil Massage

CBD for pain relief

While visiting my brother in Colorado last summer, I decided to check out this hip massage studio called LoDo Massage Studio in Downtown Denver. I decided to try a CBD (Cannabidoil) massage. Hemp based products are all the rage in Colorado right now, and I had heard some buzz about the benefits of the non-psychoactive property of the hemp plant. I read, from various sources, that it provided a deeper relaxation benefit, increased sensory stimulation, and worked deep into the tissues to provide anti-inflammatory and pain relieving benefits. I was skeptical, but willing to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised. During the massage I could feel my muscles liquefying under the therapist’s hands and the normal benefits I experience from massage therapy were magnified and extended. That massage has gone down in my personal history book as one of the most amazing massages I have ever received. I knew I had to bring this healing plant medicine into my massage practice and offer it to my clients!

Upon my return to North Carolina, I was thrilled to find a local source, that is using organic, industrial hemp to extract the CBD and create an amazing product. Blue Ridge Hemp, in Asheville, NC is on the forefront of the Hemp movement here in NC. Their mission to “Empower through wellness, gratitude, and self-care” and their desire to provide quality CBD products for pain and wellness management resonated with me and seemed to align with my own goals as a massage therapist. I love supporting my local economy and helping local businesses thrive!

What is CBD (Cannibidoil)?

Cannabidoil (CBD) is a non psychoactive ingredient sourced from the highly medicinal hemp plant and is legal in all 50 states. It works closely with our body’s endocannabinoid system, and provides reduced pain and inflammation, increased sensory stimulation, extended relief time, and deeper muscle penetration. There are no harmful side effects and it is a natural and holistic alternative to narcotics and their damaging side effects. When you add it to your massage therapy session, you will feel your muscles soften as CBD cannabiboids penetrate your skin and decrease inflammation at the cellular level.

Why should you get a CBD massage

  1. CBD will multiply the therapeutic benefits of massage

The massage therapy experience is an extremely relaxing and rejuvenating one. During your session, fusion of the body, mind, and soul occurs and the nervous system is soothed. When I am giving a massage, my intention is to create a nurturing experience that engages and relaxes the senses. This gently coaxes your muscles to soften and allows me to work into the deeper layers of the muscles to relieve tension and dysfunction. CBD oil supports this goal and shortens the time it takes to reach those deep layers of the soft tissue, allowing more time for the deeper work your body needs.

The benefits of massage therapy have been researched and are well documented. Massage therapy has been proven to provide relief from:

  • Low back pain
  • Neck & upper back pain
  • Whiplash
  • Sciatica
  • Anxiety & depression
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • TMJ
  • Stress related insomnia

When you add CBD infused massage oil to the already powerful healing effects of massage therapy, you are doubling your benefits. It truly is an amazing combination. CBD is especially helpful for those suffering from arthritis, nerve pain, and any sort of chronic pain.

3. Less pain and inflammation without the negative side effects of narcotics

This country is in the midst of an opiate addiction epidemic. Opiate overdose numbers are staggering. Statistics show that most opiate addictions start out as a prescription from a doctor for a pain related issue. Massage therapy has been proven to reduce pain and assist the healing of injuries. The medical community is starting to explore alternative treatments for pain relief. Studies show that massage therapy, aromatherapy, and CBD provide pain relief. The healing properties of CBD penetrate deep into the skin and muscles on the cellular level and promote pain relief without the nasty side effects of narcotics.
